You are not going to Zhengzhou to experience the local Ferris Wheel, are you? It might THE local tourist attraction though considering the place itself. It's mighty big, pretty dusty, rather polluted and heavily populated. It's fame dervies from two sources - one being the cityy's historic roots in ...

Well, I worked for APH too, and I didn't want to take part of this discussion until today. I agree about what Dan and Usagi so all I can say is the same they already said. But now, because I see that there are many people deffending APH with false arguments, I think I need to write some lines and ex...

Thanks to all for your reasoned responses. As for having a great day, it's been fantastic today as I saw two of my classes in the afternoon for the first time and their English ability was really good. Spent about 3 hours this evening with a Chinese teacher, interviewing and testing potential studen...

Hi Sam! Definitely better to grab yourself a certificate, especially if you plan on moving around. Some countries or employers don't require it but most do. Where is up to you, really. If you don't enjoy where you are then you're just gonna feel miserable. Ideally, you would want to take your certif...

Whether EF or Linguaphone hire incompetent teachers is irrelevant; the students themselves pay to learn English, which as such is a sign of high motivation. Even poorly-trained FT's can give highly-motivated students more than well-trained teachers can to poorly-motivated students. EF and Linguaphon...

Teaching in China is 'malarky'? Well, well, are you sure you want to experience that? I doubt you are sufficiently prepared for a job here. At public tertiary institutions you will need two years of experience doing what it seems you are going to do for the first time. And whether you are fit for a ...

I will keep this post brief, I just want to say you are lucky to find yourself in a position where you should be able to make a difference. Tertiary education in China ( in regard to English learning ) will improve, if teachers have the flexibility and latitude to try different methodologies and str...
