Maxwell or C4D is fine by me. I just recently started using maxwell so I'm still learning the nuances, but I was able to setup a 3 machine render farm using the trial versions in a matter of minutes. Also, I think Maxwell is a less expensive product than C4D, but I'm willing to put it to a vote. If the demand is high enough, there's no reason why both can't be available.
As I said, I haven't really put much thought into it, just wondering if there's enough demand to warrant the time/costs
Part of the reason I bring it up is that after spending a few weeks reading through a decent amount of posts/threads, the one common complaint is the amount of time the renderings take. While I expect the casual user won't spend money to get their renders done, those who are in a time crunch could use a more economical alternative than some of the cloud renderfarms.
But you could be right, this could be a totally pointless topic, but at least it can serve as reference for anyone else who might have a similar idea

You are barking up the wrong tree here.
The users on this forum mainly use both LightWorks and Artlantis. Neither are set up to distribute processing like Cinema 4D can, for instance.
What applications would you feature? Several users here are Cinema 4D and Maxwell users.

If I was to setup a decent size render farm would anyone be interested in renting time on it to do their renderings? I'm considering something around 64-128 cores, with about 2 GB ram per core.
I don't have any real details in terms of pricing at the moment as there are a lot of variables to consider, but it'll probably be along the lines of whatever the cost to run the machines for x amount of hours, plus a small percentage.
I don't mean this to sound like a spam ad or anything, just thought it'd be an easy way to give back to the community. If this post is inappropriate, feel free to delete the thread.

Interesting, I never noticed the option to load/assign MXM materials inside of ArchiCAD. I wonder if there's a way to batch create the ArchiCAD materials from the MXM library that is freely available.
The way I have been working was to export the model from ArchiCAD to C4D, and then re-assign the materials to all the objects inside C4D. So any model updates in ArchiCAD would result in having to re-assign all the materials again, which as you can guess became extremely annoying and cumbersome.
Thanks for the tip though, definitely cleared up some things for me

What the frustrated Archicad user does is not suicide:
they go over to Revit for a while to learn what real frustration is.

That will be the "Align 3D Texture" Command normally located under the Design Menu. You will do this alignment in the 3D window.
